Artist Statement

I use oils to reproduce collected objects.  Whether a single object or an assortment of items arranged in a tableau, by representing these seemingly mundane things, I give them new life and value as storytellers, metaphors or portraits.  Although the drive behind many of them may be personal in nature, the themes and connotations are universal.  I explore memories and often nostalgia as I meticulously investigate the objects and represent them in a manner influenced by the traditions of still life and trompe l’oeil.
